Peter Parker, played by Tobey Maguire, is a young man from Queens that was always too smart and never that popular. In love with his beautiful neighbour Mary Jane, and bullied by Mary Jane’s boyfriend Flash Thompson, Peter’s life changed the day he was bitten by a radioactive spider. Suddenly he discovered that he had super powers: he could create a web from his wrist and cling to walls if he wanted to—and that’s not even counting his superhuman strength and reflexes.

When Parker started wrestling to earn some money, he quickly discovered that life is never easy nor perfect. After being stiffed some money from the wrestling manager, he allows a criminal to rob the manager’s safe. The criminal then goes on to kill Parker’s uncle Ben when he tries to get away. The news haunts Peter and he goes after the car-thief. He eventually remembers his wise uncle’s words: “With great power, comes great responsibility” and vows to become  a better person.

He constantly does his best to save New York City from threats like the Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus—all while balancing an ever-more-serious relationship with Mary Jane Watson. In the end, his relationship with Harry and Mary Jane becomes strained throughout the years. The death of Peter’s best friend Harry Osborn leads Mary Jane and Peter to reevaluate where they stand with each other and they reconcile.
